At Unito, we approach compensation differently than most companies: transparency and fairness are at the core of how we pay our employees. This page will tell you more about our philosophy around salaries, how we come up with them, and how to evolve on our compensation matrix.

⚠️ Note that this is an internal page that we decided to publish. We plan to share more in the future but for now, if you’re not from Unito, you won’t be able to access all the additional documentation linked in this page. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you!

Our salary structure
| Role Code | Title (Individual Contributor / Manager) | Base Salary
Step 1 | Base Salary
Step 2 |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| ROLE 1 | Junior (IC) | $XX,XXX | |
| ROLE 2 | Intermediate (IC) | $XX,XXX | $XX,XXX |
| ROLE 3 | Senior (IC) / Team Lead (manager) | $XX,XXX | $XX,XXX |
| ROLE 4 | Senior II (IC) / Manager (manager) | $XX,XXX | $XX,XXX |
| ROLE 5 | Senior III (IC) / Senior Manager (manager) | $XX,XXX | $XX,XXX |
| ROLE 6 | Principal (IC) / Director (manager) | $XX,XXX | |
- Each role has its own salary track: 6 levels and 4 mid-levels ranging from Junior to Principal/Director (so 10 salary levels for each role in total).
- Each salary is attached to a Role Code: For example, CSM 1 represents a Junior Customer Success Manager’s salary, while Dev 3 represents a Senior Developer.
- Each staff member is assigned a role code and earns the salary attached to it: That means everyone with the same role code makes the same salary.
- These salaries are market-data-driven and updated yearly to reflect changes in the market like inflation rate, labour shortage for specific skillsets, etc.
- Everyone can grow: As you learn and grow, you can level up in seniority or move between roles, depending on your goals.
- Individual contributors and managers can make the same salary: You won’t hit a wall just because you’re not interested in managing a team.
- Executive salaries are also public and transparent: We build them as needed and update them on a different cadence. They are market-data-driven, same as all the other salaries in the company.
- Some roles come with additional variable compensation: For example, our salespeople make commission based on their performance. These numbers are also based on market data and shared transparently.
Transparent salaries = fair pay
All salaries are 100% transparent at Unito, from executives to interns. This has countless benefits. Here are just a few examples:
- Same job, same pay, guaranteed. Your gender, background, and negotiation skills should not affect how much you get paid.
- Talking money is not taboo. We make salary information transparent so you can feel comfortable talking about it and asking questions.
- It keeps everyone accountable. When salaries are transparent, every decision we make has to be justified. That keeps us accountable and ensures we stay true to our values.
No need to change jobs for a raise
